How to Enjoy a Safe Walk in the Winter Forest
Wear appropriate clothing.Bundle up with layers, snow boots, and mittens as if you are going for a long walk.
Be on alert for ice.Ice patches are created faster on popular tracks than unsettled snow. Note the color differences on paths, as ice patches can be either sheer white or pale blue, depending how much frozen water has accumulated in the snow.
Stay on trails. It iseasyto get lost and not an adventure if you take a wrong turn. If you do get lost, never panic. It's recommended to search for ski imprints or footprints and calm down rather than staying in one place and stressing out.
Admire the forest.Enjoy the "winter wonderland" scenery, not just on the ground, but all around you. Respect the land and animals that live on it by not littering or tossing cigarette butts.

- Always look for sign conditions when you get to forest entrances and listen to weather reports before you leave the house.
- Wet and muddy areas should be avoided. These areas could be dangerous as ice, especially to pets and little children.
- If you decide to walk your dog during winter, please pick up dog droppings regardless of where it is. When the snow melts and the area turns into ice, the "remains" will turn "watery". This is unsettling to see for others. This also creates an obstacle for other people, as they are trying to dodge icy paths.
