Jeremy Scott Presents Moschino’s Looney Tunes AW15 Show
It’s official: Bugs Bunny is our new-season style icon.
It’s official: Bugs Bunny is our new-season style icon. Leave it to Moschino’s Jeremy Scott to give us the most unlikely fashion reference of the season so far – almost an entire collection dedicated to the Looney Tunes cartoon series.
Taz, Daffy, Sylvester and co. got a hip-hop makeover at Milan Fashion Week this evening, emblazoned across basketball jersey dresses and printed onto leather bomber jackets, as models working trucker hats and chains walked through a giant stereo set.
Quilted leather overalls and nylon puffa jackets came in Mario and Luigi colour schemes (just in case you weren’t certain of the collection’s cartoonish credentials yet), while the season’s trophy accessories were Tweetie Pie medallions, fuzzy bear iPhone cases and Bugsy-face satchels. With a selection of pieces going on sale from Sunday on StyleBop.com, these are the super-covetable (and future collectable) pieces that Moschino fan-girls everywhere will be fighting to get their hands on.See which pieces will be available to buy straight away in the gallery above.
LA-based Jeremy’s been at the helm of the Italian establishment for over a year now and while he clearly has a hyper-American attitude to bring to the table, it’s clear that mining the house’s quirky-cool archives is also a dream for the pop-culture addict. This season he’s re-imagined the iconic teddy ensemble of 1989 for the street-style generation – a fuzzy hoodie and chain bag combo that’s sure to sell out instantly.
For evening, Jeremy’s cut some classic Moschino prom silhouettes but, true to form, he’s mixed things up by giving them a graffiti twist. A glittering white sheath dress was scrawled all over (and accessorised with comedy spray-can clutch) while Gigi Hadid’s fishtail frock even came with elegant, tagged-up gloves.
With three Moschino shows to his name now, featuring three consecutive cartoon capers (Jeremy’s previously given us odes to SpongeBob SquarePants and Barbie), it’s easy to start guessing which fictional icons could be next on the designer’s hit list – Scooby Doo styling or Fred Flintstone frocks, anyone?
Maybe next season the fun will move on, but for now, get set to see a whole lot more of that Tasmanian Devil whirling around on a high street near you.
