Testosterone replacement therapy - a remedy for my fatigue?

A few months ago I shared one doctor's opinion about how testosterone was affecting my overall energy/fatigue level. I began “replacement therapy” with monthly injections (not often enough because I got tired before my next injection), then every two weeks (not often enough) and finally weekly injections. This doctor's opinion was that I needed weekly injections to maintain my energy from week to week.
It did work, as far as the energy is concerned. However, I went to obtain a second opinion and discovered that weekly injections can cause an increased risk of prostate issues earlier in a man’s life. I also discovered that I was extremely dependent on the injections.
“Normal Range” according to the lab results is 241 -827 ng/dL (nanograms per deciliter). When I first got tested and had no energy, my level was 300 ng/dL which was still in the normal range, but considered quite low for a 25 year old male who was typically very active in sports and physical activities. During my weekly injections, I felt great. But the new doctor wanted to see what happened when I went just a week and a half without the injections. He discovered that my testosterone level was 172. I had completely crashed.
His suggestion/solution was to use AndroGel. It is a gel that I place on my shoulders and upper back each morning after my shower. There is almost no noticeable rise and fall of energy because it is given in much smaller doses on a daily basis. This seems to be a much more reasonable long term solution to my lack of energy. Supposedly the side effects of this treatment are far less of a concern than the injections.
I have been using AndroGel for almost a month now and my testosterone level seems to be hanging out around 631 ng/dL – a little more appropriate for a person like me.
