What is an abortion?

Abortion is a premature abortion. There are surgical and medical abortions. Let's see what abortion is, more.

Below is a discussion of medical and surgical abortions.

Medical abortion

Medical abortion is performed from 9 to 12 weeks. The exact period at which medical abortion is allowed depends on the norms established in the country. In Russia, the border is set as follows - no more than 49 days from the start of the last menstruation.

The drug method is the safest method of performing abortions, usually implemented with the help of two drugs (Mifepristone and Misoprostol). The patient can receive these drugs only from a doctor, their free distribution is prohibited.

Surgical abortion

Surgical abortions are allowed if the fetus is less than 20 weeks old. Here there are a number of methods, the most common is vacuum aspiration (the safest method of surgery, carried out for up to 12 weeks)dilatation and scraping - the doctor expands the cervical canal and scrapes its contents, dilatation and evacuation - vacuum suction is used to remove the fetus.

Is it possible to have an abortion?

The legality of an abortion is controversial, because abortion breaks an existing human life. That is why in some countries, abortion is prohibited by law. In total, all countries can be divided into five categories:

  • abortion is prohibited;
  • abortions are allowed in exceptional cases (saving a pregnant woman);
  • abortions are allowed for medical reasons and in other exceptional cases;
  • abortions are allowed for medical and socio-economic reasons;
  • complete freedom of abortion.

Unfortunately, Russia is in the last category - in our country abortions are fully resolved.
