What is milk?

What is milk, known to all from childhood. This is a secret that is produced by the mammary glands of female individuals for feeding offspring. Immediately after birth, the body of the child can not process other foods than breast milk. Over time, the milk of domestic animals enters the human diet. It is an indispensable component of dietary and therapeutic nutrition. What is useful milk?

Useful properties of milk

Babies who are breastfed by their mothers grow stronger and healthier than their peers, who are fed artificial milk formulas. Breast milk has a balanced composition of fats, proteins and carbohydrates, necessary for the full growth and development of the baby. And the vitamins and microelements entering into it support immunity.

Milk of farm animals contains a number of vitamins (A, B-carotene, B1, B2, B9, C, PP, E) and minerals (potassium, magnesium, calcium, sodium, iodine, cobalt, phosphorus, manganese, fluorine, zinc, molybdenum, copper, iron), which determines its benefit to the human body:

  • strengthens teeth and bones;
  • boosts immunity;
  • normalizes sleep;
  • helps reduce pressure;
  • relieves heartburn.

How to drink milk depends on personal preferences and national traditions. In Europe and America, cow and goat milk are the most popular. In the East, they drink the milk of horses and camels. In Greece and Italy, sheep are preferred, and the peoples of the North prefer reindeer milk.

Which milk is better to give to children - homemade or pasteurized? Natural milk is undoubtedly healthy and nutritious, but may contain pathogens. Therefore, up to 3 years is better to limit the special baby food.
